Only three of the 22 head coaches for the Oregon Ducks have overseen the team for more than ten years, despite the fact that other coaches have had an impact on the program. Check out the top five coaches in program history below; there is no contest for the top slot.
1 Oregon coach: Mike Bellotti
By far, Mike Bellotti is the greatest coach in Oregon Ducks history. Bellotti has the most successes, conference victories, and bowl wins in programme history. He coached Oregon as its head coach from 1995 until his retirement and promotion to athletic director in 2008. He retired with a 116-55 overall record and a 6-6 bowling mark.
The Ducks’ transformation into a legitimate football programme and current title contenders is frequently attributed to Bellotti. In 2014, he was admitted to the College Football Hall of Fame.
2: Len Casanova
Len Casanova served as the Oregon coach from 1951 until his retirement in 1966, during which time he also became the athletic director. When the team was still known as the Webfoots, Casanova oversaw their 82-73-8 record and 1-2 bowl record. Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1977 was Casanova.
3: Rich Brooks
It was difficult to choose between longevity and success for the third position. In the end, consistency prevailed because Rich Brooks has been the coach of the Oregon Ducks for the longest time and has the second-most wins. He served as the program’s director from 1977 until his 1994 leaving to the NFL.
The Ducks finished their season with a 91-109-4 record and a 1-3 bowl record, falling just shy of the 100-win mark. Although he has a losing record overall, a 24-49-4 record over his first seven years is mostly to blame.
4: Chip Kelly
Chip Kelly could have been higher on this list had he coached Oregon for more than four seasons. He finished fourth in the end after an impressive but brief career from 2009 to 2012. Kelly led the Ducks to the best winning percentage in school history with a 46-7 record, including a 2-2 record in bowl games.
5: Mark Helfrich
From 2013 to 2016, Mark Helfrich served as the Oregon Ducks’ head coach. While the team’s 4-8 record marked a disappointing end to his career, he was responsible for the program’s overall 37-16 record and 2-1 bowl game record.
