On Pixel and other non-Samsung devices, Google is now releasing Quick Share in response to the announcement made at CES early this month.
Although the user interface has been improved, the main change is the name, as Google is assimilating Samsung’s brand to create a single Android offering. The blue double helix emblem of Nearby Share has been replaced with a circle containing two arrows going in the direction of one another. The system share sheet also makes this blue and white logo far more visible.
Google Play services are being used to roll out Quick Share on non-Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets. Google announced earlier this month that it would start rolling it out in February, but reports surfaced in the last day (via Mishaal Rahman) that the makeover is already showing up on Pixel and other Android smartphones.
When you select Quick Share in an app, a new fullscreen page with the options to “Send to your devices,” “Send to nearby devices,” and “You’ll share as” appears. In the past, Google employed a bottom sheet that was partly displayed.
The new Quick Share is already being rolled out by Samsung to devices older than the S24; however, the Material You vs. One UI UI on Galaxy devices is comparable but not the same.
