The Love is in the Air event in World of Warcraft has a new gold drain achievement that appears to offer very little reward. Although gold sinks are nothing new in World of Warcraft, there are curiously no benefits to achieving this new achievement.
The World of Warcraft event Love is in the Air serves as the virtual counterpart of Valentine’s Day. Although the game frequently adds new features to events, this year Love is in the Air received a complete overhaul with new World of Warcraft event quests, awards, and achievements that players may enjoy from now until February 19.
However, because of its ridiculously high cost, one of these achievements leaves players perplexed. A new achievement called “Support Your Local Artisans” may be obtained by players who donate 70,000 gold to the Artisan’s Consortium in support of the Gala of Gifts. Players can make daily contributions of 10,000 gold at Galvus Ironhammer, which is located in Stormwind, or Torgando Featherhoof, which is located near Orgrimmar. That being said, there don’t appear to be any significant benefits associated with the feat beyond itself.
In World of Warcraft, a new Gold Sink achievement for Valentine’s Day
- During Love is in the Air, gamers must give 70,000 gold to the Artisan’s Consortium in order to support your local artisans.
- During the two-week Valentine’s Day event, players have to donate 10,000 gold per day for seven days.
- Gold is given to Torgando Featherhoof outside of Orgrimmar and Galvus Ironhammer outside of Stormwind.
- Unlike other Love is in the Air achievements in World of Warcraft, this achievement has no notable benefits attached to it.
To be fair, in exchange for their 10,000 gold payments, users are apparently getting a Bundle of Love Tokens in the mail. Each Bundle of Love Token consists of 10 of the event currency. It is unclear if they will receive this gift each time they make a donation or if it is a one-time gift. In either case, 10 Love Tokens for 10,000 gold isn’t really a decent exchange rate, and it’s certainly not a sufficient incentive or reward—especially considering that players may obtain a new Dragonriding Drake customization for 50,000 gold during World of Warcraft’s Lunar Festival, which is happening along with Love is in the Air.
In World of Warcraft, gold sinks in the past have always yielded worthwhile returns. The Mighty Caravan Brutosaur is a limited-edition mount that costs a costly 5,000,000 gold but comes with a mobile auction house. The Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak mount costs 120,000 gold and offers a mobile transmog station. Players might be better off saving their gold for the gold sink cosmetics that World of Warcraft added last month, as they will disappear forever at the end of August, rather than pursuing this new achievement, which doesn’t seem to offer any major rewards.
