The third child of former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and his wife Sarah is a baby girl. Williamson announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday. And after that, three 🙏 Welcome, lovely girl, to the world. Williamson posted a picture of the baby and his wife with the message, “So grateful for your safe arrival and the exciting journey ahead.” Williamson and Sarah already have a son who is two years old and a daughter who is three years old.
David Warner, the opener for Australia, who was just in New Zealand for the Twenty20 International series, congratulated the couple. “Welcome, icon,” Warner wrote.
Less than two weeks have passed since Indian superstar Virat Kohli and his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child, a newborn boy. This is Williamson’s third child. The boy was called Aakay by the couple.
During this period, Williamson and Kohli were not on international duty. During New Zealand’s three-match T20I series at home against Australia, Williamson took a paternity leave, and Kohli missed the full five-match Test series against England to spend time with his family.
But in the Test series against South Africa, the legendary Kiwi was in incredible form. The right-hander helped his team win the series 2-0 against the Proteas, their first in over 90 years, with three hundreds in four innings against a depleted South African side without its key players.
Williamson took the lead early on, scoring 118, 109, 43, and 133* with the bat. By a wide margin, Williamson is currently the top-ranked Test hitter.
Against the Australians, captain Tim Southee and coach Gary Stead will be hoping that the 33-year-old maintains his recent strong form.
Williamson will be available for the series-opening Test match at Wellington on February 29. He has amassed 8,666 Test runs at an average of 55.9 with 32 hundreds to his credit. For Southee and Williamson, it will be their 99th Test match together. The two greats of New Zealand will play their 100th Test match together in Christchurch during the second Test against Australia, if all goes according to plan.
Meanwhile, opener Devon Conway will not be available for New Zealand as he is out for the first Test because of injury.
