Following the merger with JSW Group, MG Motor India looks to be preparing to launch the redesigned Astor in the Indian market. Right now, the midsize SUV is among the most feature-rich models in its class and is reasonably priced. The mid-cycle update for the five-seater, which debuted in October 2021, will include the facelift.
Now that the 2024 MG Astor appears to be about to hit the market, it has been entirely leaked online. It gets several internal and external updates, and the addition of new features and technologies will elevate the quality of the equipment list. A redesigned front end with LED daytime running lights and sharper LED headlights is part of the Astor facelift.
Along with the quilted diamond finish, which enhances the overall sleek appeal, the grille portion has also been modified to give it a more modern feel. A sportier front bumper piece with big vertical air inlets, pentagonal housings, and a horizontal blue garnish that runs through the headlamps is also visible in the leaked photos. The side profile features silver functional roof rails, black-finished pillars, and wing mirrors.
Additional highlights include the redesigned rear bumper, shark fin antenna, skid plates, wraparound LED tail lamps, integrated spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp, and newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels. A three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls and a black theme are featured inside, along with white accents on the door trims and seats.
Along with the updated dashboard, there was a new twin-screen display, gear selector, wireless smartphone charger, EPB, and improved center control. As with the outgoing generation, expect an aggressive pricing strategy as it continues to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Honda Elevate.
In terms of speed, the 2024 MG Astor will be powered by the well-known 1.5L NA petrol and 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine, but enhanced hybrid technology may be included for increased fuel efficiency. Three different gearbox options are available: a six-speed torque converter AT, a CVT, and a five-speed manual.
