Users can now comment on Instagram Stories. Previously, users could simply send a message to the person who posted the story and the message would appear in their DMs.
From now on, comments will be publicly displayed for everyone to see, just like comments on a regular Instagram post, but users can also offer a DM option if they prefer.
Posters have the option to turn comments on or off for their stories. Anyone who views the story can see the comments, but only those who consent to the poster can post comments, and they disappear after 24 hours, just like the story itself.
The experience is essentially similar to Instagram’s live streaming feature, where users can leave comments for all to see.
