The early learning startup Lingokids and “CoComelon” creator Moonbug Entertainment have partnered to release games using characters from Moonbug’s well-known live-action preschool brand “Blippi.”
As the “best friend” of a preschool-aged child, the titular character of the “Blippi” franchise, which spans several shows on various platforms, “inspires them to learn through play with the fun, engaging content and experiences he creates,” which include backyard science, the rainforest, a racetrack, and even outer space.
The agreement with Moonbug for the “Blippi” games is the first time Lingokids, which debuted in 2015, has collaborated to integrate external intellectual property into its Lingokids app, which it claims is utilized by over 100 million families globally.
According to Moonbug and Lingokids, “The new content will incorporate the company’s proven educational methodology with Moonbug’s engaging characters. These interactive experiences will focus on developing essential skills, including vocabulary, logic, creativity, and emotional intelligence for children ages 2-8.”
The Lingokids app now has the new games with Blippi and friends, and more will be added in the upcoming months.
Moonbug Entertainment, which is owned by Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs’ Candle Media, has a portfolio of well-known preschool shows, including “Blippi” and “CoComelon,” that are accessible on more than 150 video platforms worldwide, such as YouTube Kids, Netflix, Disney+, and BBC iPlayer.
“I’ve been a fan of Lingokids for a long time and was really excited to be able to bring the first ever third party IP to the app as they continue to expand,” Moonbug vice president of gaming and interactive Ed Barton said. “We know kids love Blippi and the curiosity he brings to everyday learning. It’s great seeing this come to life in the Lingokids app.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Moonbug Entertainment to bring their beloved characters to the Lingokids platform,” Lingokids CEO Cristobal Viedma said. “This collaboration allows us to expand our educational offerings and provide unique learning experiences that deeply resonate with children, furthering our mission to inspire and empower the next generation.”
The team is in talks with Moonbug Entertainment and other kids’ media firms for additional chances to develop Lingokids app games based on well-known intellectual property, according to Viedma.
