The wait is finally over. Donald Glover’s award-winning comedy series Atlanta will return for its third season on March 24 on FX with a two-episode debut and will stream the following day on Hulu after a three-year hiatus. On Christmas Day, a new teaser trailer for the new season will air during Disney siblings ESPN and ABC’s NBA games.
Atlanta will be available for in-season streaming on Hulu for the first time with the 10-episode third season. The first two seasons, which broadcast before FX was acquired by Disney and Disney took over Hulu, are also available to watch on Hulu.
“We are thrilled to have Atlanta back with a new season on March 24th,” said Eric Schrier, President of FX Entertainment. “Once again, Donald Glover, the producers and stellar cast have delivered another signature season synonymous with the excellence that makes Atlanta so great.”
Season 3 is almost entirely set in Europe, and it follows Earn (Donald Glover), Alfred /Paper Boi’ (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz) as they navigate their new surroundings as outsiders and struggle to adjust to the sudden success they had aspired to.
Donald Glover, Stephen Glover, Hiro Murai, Stefani Robinson, Paul Simms, and Dianne McGunigle executive produce Atlanta, which is produced by FX Productions.
Season 3 was ordered in June 2018 but had to be postponed due to Donald Glover’s hectic feature film schedule. The epidemic then forced the production to be halted in March 2020, thus delaying filming. Seasons 3 and 4 were then shot back-to-back by Glover and his team.
Season 3, which was mostly filmed in Europe, ended this summer, and shooting on Season 4 began in Atlanta.
In August, FX Chairman John Landgraf remarked, “All the scripts for that season have been written, and I absolutely adore the scripts for both seasons.”
Atlanta received the most Emmy nominations of any comedy series in its second season, which aired in 2018. Atlanta has won five Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, two AFI Awards, Peabody, PGA, WGA, TCA, NAACP, and Critics’ Choice Awards in its first two seasons.
