Baby, Shea Couleé appears in a superhero show.
The winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” a finalist on “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars All Winners,” and the star of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” have all joined the Marvel Studios TV series “Ironheart” in an unnamed role.
In the Disney+ original series “Ironheart,” Dominique Thorne (“If Beale Street Could Talk,” “Judas and the Black Messiah”) plays the engineering whiz Riri Williams, who creates a supersuit akin to Tony Stark’s Iron Man in the comics. Anthony Ramos (“In the Heights”), Alden Ehrenreich (“Solo: A Star Wars Story”), Lyric Ross (“This Is Us”), and Manny Montana (“Good Girls”) are all scheduled to star in the programme. This fall’s Marvel movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is scheduled to showcase the debut of Thorne’s character.
The head writer for “Ironheart” is Chinaka Hodge (“Amazing Stories,” “Snowpiercer”), with Sam Bailey (“Dear White People”) and Angela Barnes (“Blindspotting”) sharing the directing duties. The “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler’s production business, Proximity, is working with Marvel Studios on the picture.
Since the beginning of her stay on Season 9 of the main series of “Drag Race,” Couleé has been a favourite of the audience. She came back to win “All Stars” Season 5 and then again this summer on the just-completed seventh season of “All Stars,” which only featured prior champions. At the conclusion of Season 9 of “Drag Race,” she released her debut album, “Couleé-D,” and a number of subsequent singles.
Couleé played Marcia Brady in the crossover special “Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch” in 2021, which starred the casts of “Drag Race” and “The Brady Bunch.”
Deadline was the first to reveal Couleé’s “Ironheart” casting.
