On Wednesday, Beyonce made the long-awaited Renaissance World Tour official, and members of the Bay Area Beyhive can celebrate. On August 30, Queen B will make a stop at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium, giving Northern Californians a chance to see her in person.
The song “Renaissance” debuted at No. 1 on the Top 200 chart of Billboard in August 2022. A record for female artists, it was Beyonce’s seventh album to reach the top spot. Since the album’s release, a worldwide tour was anticipated to accompany it. A visual album, which has been rumored for months, has also irritated fans.
Beyonce will perform for the first time in the Bay Area in August, following her appearance at Levi’s in 2018 with her husband Jay-Z during the On the Run II tour. Beyonce debuted her hit “Formation,” the first single from her iconic 2016 visual album “Lemonade,” at the famed, and in some circles controversial, Super Bowl 50 halftime show at Levi’s Stadium.
The only other scheduled date in California is September 2, when the Renaissance tour will also make a stop in Los Angeles with a show at SoFi Stadium. Glendale, Arizona (on August 24), Las Vegas (on August 26), Vancouver, British Columbia (on September 11), and Seattle (on September 13) are the other West Coast stops.
2023 looks set to be a big year for stadium shows in the Bay Area thanks to Beyonce’s announcement. Late in July, Taylor Swift will perform two shows at Levi’s Stadium, Ed Sheeran will perform in September, Blink-182’s reunion tour will stop in San Jose and Sacramento in May, and Madonna will perform two shows at Chase Center in October.
Fans are encouraged to sign up for the presale ahead of time even though tickets for Beyonce’s shows are not yet available. Fans with Citibank credit cards will likely have easier access to tickets because the tour is sponsored by Citi. The Santa Clara show has live registration, which will remain open until Thursday, February 9.
Despite its recent failure with Swift’s tour, Ticketmaster is hosting the ticketing process. The Eras Tour tickets were so badly handled by the website that Congress is currently looking into the ticketing platform. This includes selling tickets at sky-high prices and not processing sales.
