Connor McDavid, a center for the Edmonton Oilers, David Pastrnak, a winger for the Boston Bruins, and Matthew Tkachuk, a winger for the Florida Panthers, are among the contenders for the Hart Trophy, which is awarded annually to the NHL’s most valuable player.
McDavid finished the season with 153 points and 64 goals, making him the sixth player in NHL history to surpass 150 points in a single season.
The 26-year-old from Richmond Slope, Ont., is attempting to win a third Hart Trophy.
Pastrnak put second in the association with 61 objectives and third with 113 focuses for the Bruins, who posted the NHL’s best record this season.
In his first season with the Panthers, Tkachuk established himself as a top two-way forward with 40 goals and 109 points.
Last season, the award went to Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews.
