On Thursday, LG Energy Solutions and Hyundai Motor Group made the announcement that they would construct a $4.3 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Georgia. This would be the most recent clean energy facility to locate in the state.
The undertaking is supposed to carry 3,000 new positions to southeast Georgia toward the finish of 2025. Hyundai is building its second battery manufacturing plant in the state thanks to incentives provided by the Inflation Reduction Act. In December, Hyundai made the announcement that it was building a plant in Bartow County with SK On, a South Korean company that makes batteries for electric cars.
“Hyundai Motor Group is focusing on its electrification efforts to secure a leadership position in the global auto industry,” Jaehoon Chang, president and CEO of Hyundai Engine Organization, said in a proclamation.
According to the company, the location of the facility is Bryan County, Georgia, near the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, which is currently under construction. Electric vehicles from Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia will be manufactured at the Metaplant facility.
In an interview, Georgia Democrat Senator Jon Ossoff stated that the plant was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act’s incentives for manufacturing clean energy.
“This is yet another huge win for Georgia,” he said.
In April, Mr. Ossoff drove an exchange mission to South Korea, where he met with senior leaders from the two organizations.
Hanwha QCells made the decision in January to use the federal climate and tax measure to build a $2.5 billion Georgia facility to produce solar panels and their components, expanding its operations.
