According to sources, the Brazilian Football Association (CBF) is considering appointing Davide, Carlo Ancelotti’s son, as a coach for the national team in order to assist with the transition while they wait to appoint Ancelotti himself in June 2024.
Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF, has repeatedly stated that Ancelotti is his preferred choice to lead Brazil after Tite leaves following the 2022 World Cup. However, the Real Madrid manager has stated that he intends to finish out his contract at the Bernabeu, which has one year left on it.
CBF is looking into the best way to handle the interim period. One option would be to appoint Davide Ancelotti, who is currently working as his father’s assistant at Madrid, to work with Brazil interim manager Ramon Menezes in the interim.
ESPN was informed by people close to Ancelotti that they would not rule out the possibility of the Italian taking over Brazil when his contract with Madrid expires in June 2024.
At the end of this month, there will be a meeting to talk about the situation.
Davide Ancelotti, 33, worked as his father’s assistant at Bayern Munich for the first time in 2016. Since then, he has worked as his father’s right-hand man at Napoli, Everton, and now Madrid, where he is highly rated.
Since the World Cup, Brazil has played friendlies with Morocco and Guinea, winning 4-1 in Barcelona on Saturday. On Tuesday, they will play Senegal.
Between September and November 2023, they will play six World Cup qualifying matches before taking a break until September 2024.
As part of an anti-racism campaign in response to Vinicius Junior’s abuse by Brazil and Madrid forwards, plans have also been made for a March 2024 friendly match against Spain at the Bernabeu, as stated by RFEF president Luis Rubiales.
The Copa America will take place in the United States between June and July 2024.
In his 28-year managerial career, Carlo Ancelotti led Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Madrid, becoming the only coach to win four Champions Leagues. However, he has never led a national team.
