Ferrari has unveiled its first new supercar in over a decade, the F80, and it has already sold out entirely. The renowned Italian luxury automaker introduced this highly exclusive model on Thursday, announcing that all 799 units have been claimed, even with a starting price of $3.9 million.
The F80 is a striking combination of cutting-edge technology and advanced design, heavily influenced by Ferrari’s deep experience in Endurance racing and Formula 1. The car is powered by a potent six-cylinder, three-liter hybrid engine that produces an extraordinary 1,200 horsepower. Alongside its impressive engine, the F80 boasts advanced racing brake pads, an innovative active suspension system, and ultralight 3D-printed metal components, such as its suspension arms, that contribute to the vehicle’s high performance.
Ferrari’s Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Enrico Galliera, called the F80 a pivotal model in Ferrari’s lineup, stating that it sets a new standard for the company’s range. During the unveiling event in Maranello, Ferrari’s hometown, Galliera expressed confidence that the F80 would make a lasting impact in the automotive world. Ferrari’s supercars, which are typically launched once every decade, represent the pinnacle of the brand’s technological advancements and innovation.
The F80 follows the legacy of Ferrari’s last supercar, the LaFerrari, which was introduced in 2013, with an open-top Aperta version released in 2016. Ferrari’s first-ever supercar, the iconic GTO, was launched 40 years ago and helped cement Ferrari’s reputation for creating cutting-edge, high-performance vehicles.
While the F80 is a completely new model, it shares its engine architecture with Ferrari’s powertrains used in the World Endurance Championship, where Ferrari has secured consecutive wins at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. The F80 also integrates technology developed through Ferrari’s Formula 1 efforts, reinforcing the car’s status as not just a luxury vehicle but a symbol of Ferrari’s legendary motorsport pedigree and engineering excellence. This blend of racing innovation and luxurious craftsmanship makes the F80 a truly extraordinary supercar.
