On December 4, at the company’s 10-year anniversary celebration in China, OnePlus is scheduled to introduce the much awaited OnePlus 12 flagship smartphone. A 2K resolution AMOLED screen, a Sony LYT-808 image sensor, and Qualcomm’s most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC are features of the OnePlus 12’s Chinese edition. Early in the upcoming year, the OnePlus 12 is anticipated to arrive in India.
The Chinese tech brand made the formal announcement via a post on Weibo. There are also rumors that the flagship model and the OnePlus Ace 3, which may be rebranded as the OnePlus 12R for the global market, may launch simultaneously. Both smartphones are expected to debut in India and other territories in January 2024, while there hasn’t been a formal word regarding the global launch.
Regarding the OnePlus 12’s features, the company has already stated that it would include a Sony LYT-808 image sensor, which is probably an upgraded version of the LYT-T808 sensor found in the OnePlus Open foldable. Although information regarding the other camera sensors is yet unknown, a 64MP periscope zoom lens with an f/2.6 aperture and optical image stabilization is expected.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will power the OnePlus 12, as disclosed by OnePlus at a recent event hosted by Chinese display manufacturer BOE. The business confirmed a 2K resolution AMOLED panel and emphasized improvements connected to displays. The Display P1, OPPO’s first-generation display chip, will power the display and allow for precise pixel-level calibration for better image quality, brighter lighting, and lower power usage. The 2K resolution AMOLED display from OnePlus is dubbed the “Oriental screen,” and DisplayMate gave it an A+ grade.
It is expected that the OnePlus 12 would have a 5,400mAh battery with support for both 50W and 100W wireless charging.
