Samsung Electronics has announced a major enhancement for its smart TVs and monitors, bringing a more immersive viewing experience with the integration of HDR10+ support for Netflix movies and shows. This advancement allows viewers to enjoy their favorite Netflix titles with deeper contrast, richer colors, and greater visual depth, making on-screen content appear more lifelike than ever before.
HDR10+ is an advanced high dynamic range (HDR) technology pioneered by Samsung, designed to deliver superior picture quality by dynamically adjusting brightness and contrast on a scene-by-scene basis. Unlike static HDR formats, HDR10+ optimizes every frame individually, ensuring enhanced clarity, detail, and color accuracy while staying true to the filmmaker’s artistic vision.
Speaking about the development, Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, emphasized the transformative nature of HDR10+. “This technology elevates the way audiences experience content, offering deeper contrasts and more vibrant color reproduction for a truly cinematic feel. We are thrilled to bring this innovation to Netflix’s extensive global audience of over 300 million members. Moving forward, we will continue collaborating with partners to expand HDR10+ adoption across our devices and within the streaming industry.”
With this integration, users will experience heightened realism across a growing catalog of HDR10+ titles on Netflix. The feature will be supported on Samsung’s 2025 Neo QLED, OLED, and Lifestyle TV models, as well as on 2025 and select 2024 monitors, ensuring a premium visual experience across various displays. Samsung has also hinted at further expanding HDR10+ compatibility to additional models in the future.
This milestone represents a significant leap in HDR technology adoption, broadening the availability of high-quality HDR content to an even wider audience. Beyond Netflix, Samsung is actively partnering with leading industry players to push the boundaries of HDR10+ technology, ensuring that more streaming platforms, content providers, and device manufacturers embrace this cutting-edge format. As HDR10+ support continues to grow, viewers can look forward to unparalleled picture quality, deeper immersion, and a more captivating home entertainment experience than ever before.
