According to the most recent details emerging, Google has decided to hold off on releasing Gemini, its next-generation AI chatbot, until the following year. Notably, Google revealed Gemini at I/O 2023 as its next-generation foundation model, and it was scheduled to launch the following week. But Gemini won’t be available until January 2024.
Google claims that Gemini is their most powerful conversational AI to date. The Information has reported that next week, this multimodal AI chatbot was scheduled to make an appearance at several events in California, New York, and Washington, D.C., where lawmakers and other leaders were anticipated to be in present.
It will be interesting to watch how Google adds Gemini into its entire set of services
However, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, chose to postpone the Gemini launch after doing some internal study. It is reported that Google discovered certain non-English inquiries were not consistently handled by the AI. The lack of global language support in Gemini has delayed its deployment, as it is one of the primary requirements for Google to help it meet standards such as OpenAI’s GPT-4.
It’s also claimed that Gemini’s utilization of more processing power than Chat GPT-4 allowed it to perform far better in private testing. “The company is focused on getting Gemini 1.0 out as soon as possible, making sure it’s a competitive and state-of-the-art, and we’ll build from there on,” stated Google’s CEO in November.
According to reports, Sissie Hsiao, Google’s vice president and manager of Bard and Google Assistant, showed the abilities of the Gemini AI chatbot with the following example: “I’ve seen some very incredible things. Gemini may produce visuals such as, “If I’m trying to bake a cake, draw me three pictures of the steps to ice a three-layer cake.” These are not just copied photos from the internet; these are entirely original images.
