Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new variant of its popular premium hatchback, the Ignis, in an effort to boost sales. The newly launched Ignis Radiance Edition is now available in India, starting at an attractive price of Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This edition features various cosmetic upgrades and added accessories across three different variants: Sigma, Zeta, and Alpha. Notably, the base Sigma variant of the Ignis Radiance Edition is priced Rs 35,000 lower than the standard Sigma trim, which retails for Rs 5.84 lakh. Despite this price reduction, the Radiance Edition includes accessories worth Rs 3,650, such as wheel covers for the 15-inch steel wheels, door visors, and chrome accents on specific areas.
The Zeta and Alpha variants also receive the Radiance treatment, priced between Rs 6.96 lakh and Rs 7.41 lakh for the Zeta, and Rs 7.61 lakh to Rs 8.06 lakh for the Alpha. These trims are similarly Rs 35,000 cheaper than their standard versions, and they come with added accessories valued at Rs 9,500, including new seat covers, black cushions, door cladding, and door visors.
Under the hood, the Ignis Radiance Edition remains unchanged from the standard models, retaining the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 83 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
This new edition is part of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to address the recent slowdown in the mass-market segment. The Ignis Radiance Edition competes with other hatchbacks in the Indian market, such as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Citroen C3, and its own siblings, the Wagon R, Swift, and Baleno.
In addition to launching the Ignis Radiance Edition, Maruti Suzuki is offering substantial discounts on other popular models, including up to Rs 85,500 off on the Fronx crossover and up to Rs 3.3 lakh on the Jimny lifestyle off-roader. The Grand Vitara compact SUV is also available with discounts of up to Rs 1.03 lakh, along with other deals on various MSIL models.
