A real-time TweetDeck-style feed is being tested by Threads

Today, Meta is beginning to test a Threads experience that is similar to TweetDeck. It would enable Threads users to design bespoke web feeds arranged in a column format, much like TweetDeck did prior to turning into a premium service and changing its name to X Pro last year.

A representative for Meta, Seine Kim, told The Verge that “if you’re in the test, you can choose to keep things simple with a single feed, or add separate columns for your favorite searches, tags, accounts, saved posts, and notifications.” It is possible to designate which columns should automatically update in real time.

A screenshot of the new Threads experience on the web indicates that it is quite similar to TweetDeck. Meta will be choosing Threads users to test this new experience. You have the option to pin columns containing search results or posts from a certain user profile, as well as to have a column update automatically with the newest postings.

This updated UI is probably a reaction to frequent grievances from heavy Threads users regarding being compelled to view the algorithm-driven For You feed each time you access Threads online. There is a real-time Following feed for Threads, but you have to bookmark this URL or use a different one each time you open Threads online. The Following feed is concealed by Meta under a tap of the Threads logo on the mobile apps, causing the similar effect.

Before the firm bought it in 2011, TweetDeck was a well-liked third-party app for accessing Twitter. Power users, journalists, and marketers who regularly used Twitter found it to be a useful tool because to features like support for many accounts and customisable feeds. To access the rebranded X Pro, users must now pay $8 per month for an X Premium account.

In addition to the new Threads interface that looks like TweetDeck, Meta is also introducing a chronological recent tab for searches on the platform. Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, explains, “Search results here are still evaluated for quality, but you can see them in chronological order.”
