Just a few days ago, Ultraviolette unveiled two brand-new electric models, the Tesseract and the Shockwave. The Tesseract is a sporty electric scooter, launched with an introductory price of Rs. 1.20 lakh, while the Shockwave stands as India’s first-ever e-enduro motorcycle, carrying a launch price of Rs. 1.50 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). Initially, the special introductory pricing was limited to the first 1,000 buyers, but strong demand has prompted the company to extend the offer to another 1,000 customers. The pre-bookings, which opened at 3 pm on March 5, 2025, saw the first 1,000 slots being filled within a day. Once this promotional phase ends, prices are set to rise by Rs. 25,000, and it remains to be seen how Ultraviolette, primarily a niche premium brand, will manage production to meet the growing demand.
The enthusiastic response to the Ultraviolette Shockwave can be attributed to its striking design and impressive performance figures. The e-enduro motorcycle generates an astounding 505 Nm of torque at the rear wheel and delivers a peak power output of 14.5 bhp. Examining its mechanical components, the bike comes fitted with a 37 mm cartridge-type front suspension with a generous 200 mm of travel, while the rear suspension provides 180 mm of wheel movement for enhanced off-road capabilities.
Rolling on a 19-inch spoked front wheel and a 17-inch spoked rear wheel, the Shockwave is equipped with 110/90 R17 tyres for superior grip and handling. Its braking setup consists of a 270 mm front disc with a dual-piston calliper, complemented by a 220 mm rear disc paired with a floating single-piston calliper to ensure effective stopping power. The bike embraces an all-LED lighting system, including twin projector LED headlamps, ensuring optimal visibility.
For connectivity, the Shockwave integrates LTE connectivity with an eSIM and supports Bluetooth pairing with smartphones. Riders can personalize their experience with four levels of traction control and six levels of regenerative braking. The motorcycle operates with a single-speed reduction transmission and comes equipped with switchable ABS for enhanced safety.
Performance-wise, the Shockwave can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in just 2.9 seconds and reaches a claimed top speed of 120 kmph. Its 4 kWh battery pack delivers an impressive range of 165 km under IDC testing standards, making it a strong contender in the evolving electric motorcycle segment.
