On September 15, 2023, Apple began taking pre-orders for its iPhone 15 series of handsets. On September 22, the Cupertino giant will begin shipping the smartphones all across the world. Interestingly, the pre-order wait time for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has increased to two months due to the enormous demand for the smartphones. A delay of up to 8 weeks was claimed by Mark Gurman in significant nations like India, China, the US, and Canada.
Delays of up to two weeks are also experienced by the basic iPhone 15 series cellphones in several areas. The newest generation of iPhones, the 15-series, are the first to feature a USB Type-C connection. The battery size and power of the recently introduced iPhone series were recently discovered by MySmartPrice in the Chinese regulatory database. The features of the upcoming iPhones’ USB Type-C ports were made public by a Macrumors article.
Features of the USB Type-C Port on the iPhone 15 Series
All iPhone 15 series devices may charge AirPods, Apple Watch, or any other tiny gadget that supports USB Power Delivery, according to the support document released by Apple. According to the document, smartphones may supply up to 4.5 watts of power to these gadgets.
In comparison to the Lightning port’s 0.3 watts of output, the USB Type-C port provides 15 times more power. Users may now power the majority of their accessories while on the go without a source of external power thanks to the increase in power output.
Apple announced that the iPhone 15 Pro models support the USB 3.2 standard at the time of the launch. According to the support document, cellphones can transport data at speeds of up to 10Gbit per second. Apple provides the devices with a USB 2-compatible cable, which has a lower spec.
Users need to purchase extra USB-3-compatible cables in order to transfer data at the fastest possible rates. According to the document, the iPhone 15 series supports video mirroring up to 4K 60Hz HDR films using the DisplayPort. Users who have a USB Type-C to DisplayPort cable that supports USB 3.1 speeds or above can mirror contents to an external monitor.
With a USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable, Apple also supports mirroring contents to an HDMI Display or TV. If the external monitor or TV supports it, Apple’s USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter can output the material in HDR10 or Dolby Vision.
Apple has added capability for recording ProRes films at 4K 60Hz directly to external storage on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max smartphones. Many vloggers will be able to record their vlogs thanks to the technology without having to worry about storage issues.
Using a USB Type-C to USB Type-A connection, the USB Type-C connector can also connect iPhones to vehicles that support CarPlay. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 series handsets support 27W rapid charging technology, according to a Japanese newspaper.
The Pro models may be able to use 35W rapid charging technology, according to certain earlier rumors. According to a different source, Apple will set a maximum battery charge limit for the recently unveiled iPhone series. The battery charge restriction feature has been mentioned in the future iOS 17, according to 9to5Mac.
