ABC’s “The Rookie” has been renewed for a seventh season, According to reports.
Season 6 of the police drama premiered on February 20, postponed from its usual fall premiere date due to the strike that shut down much of Hollywood in 2023. The Season 6 premiere drew 11.9 million viewers across all platforms in the Live+35 ratings, marking its highest ratings since 2018, according to ABC. Premier also has a 2 rating among adults aged 18 to her 9 years.
Nathan Fillion leads the cast as John Nolan, who joined the Los Angeles Police Department in his 40s and became the oldest new recruit in the department’s history. The cast also includes Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neal, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Sean Ashmore, True Valentino, and Lise Chavez.
Alexi Hawley created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Fillion also serves as executive producer along with Mark Gordon, Michelle Chapman, Bryn Malone, Bill Norcross and Jon Steinberg. Lionsgate Television is the series’ primary studio and international distributor. Lionsgate acquired the show after completing its acquisition of eOne in late 2023. It is co-produced by ABC Signature.
The official description for Season 6 reads: “Once the oldest recruit in the Los Angeles Police Department, John Nolan used his life experience, determination and sense of humor to compete with rookies 20 years his junior. Nolan feels things can’t get any better now that he has moved on with his life with Bailey (Dwan) and chosen his career path. , must deal with the aftermath of recent attacks.”
While it was already confirmed that “The Good Doctor” and “Station 19” will conclude with their current seasons, ABC has now renewed the majority of its scripted roster for the 2024–2025 season. “The Conners” and “Not Dead Yet” are the two shows that are still pending an update. The upcoming season of ABC’s “High Potential,” which stars Kaitlin Olson, was originally scheduled for last year but was postponed due to the strikes. Additionally, Ryan Murphy recently ordered “Dr. Odyssey” straight to series.
