According to reports, Apple wants to completely revamp its TV app

According to reports, Apple plans to redesign the Apple TV app. The business plans to merge its video products and make them available only through the TV app on all of its devices. According to report, who cited “people with knowledge of the matter,” the business will release a new version of the app “around December” as part of a forthcoming tvOS software an update.

Apple is said to be removing its specialised Movies and TV Shows applications (which are based on iTunes) from the Apple TV set-top box’s interface as part of the shift. It also intends to remove all video-related elements from the iOS and iPadOS iTunes app. Since renting and purchasing digital video content is already possible through the TV app, the purported change is more about streamlining and eliminating redundancy than it is about changing any essential functions.

According to reports, the redesigned app would have a left-side panel for video genres, just like Netflix and other competitors in the streaming market. Video programming from the Apple TV+ subscription service, films that have been rented or bought, live sports networks, and compatible third-party services like Amazon Prime, Paramount+, and Starz are all combined into one app called TV by Apple.

Apple has been investing billions on video content, such as Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which debuted in theatres last week. (The movie will be available on Apple TV+ “at a later date.”) Among the original shows available on Apple TV+ are Ted Lasso, Severance, The Morning Show, Silo, and Foundation. Following disputes over Stewart’s intended editorial material on AI and China, the business apparently (and abruptly) cancelled The Problem with Jon Stewart this month.

In other Apple news, invites to an event on October 30 were sent out by the business today. It is anticipated that the “Scary Fast” streaming event will highlight new Macs. These might include a MacBook Pro and iMac line revamp, possibly with a new M3 chip.
