Facebook’s parent company, Meta, has been testing a chatbot with artificial intelligence that they may call Meta AI. The chatbot is being tested with a subset of Indian users across its suite of platforms, which includes WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
Integration of Instagram:
Users can engage directly and one-on-one with Meta AI on Instagram by tapping on the Meta AI icon in the search box. This allows users to reach Meta AI through direct messaging (DM).
Similar to other AI assistants now in use, such as Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Meta AI functions as a general-purpose assistant that offers real-time information and responses to a variety of questions.
How does it work on Instagram?
The assistant’s capacity to produce text and visuals that compress long sections of text will be useful for tasks such as editing and proofreading, translating between languages, and even creating poems and stories.
In order to ask questions or get assistance, users will now be able to call on the assistant from within group and personal chats already available on Instagram.
Testing on WhatsApp:
According to reports, Meta has started testing the chatbot on WhatsApp once more. When some users posted screenshots of the chatbot’s interactions on the network, the news became public.
The claim made by Meta:
The generative AI-powered experiences are in different stages of development and are being tested in restricted capacity for the general public, according to a Meta representative.
What role will the feature play in the Indian market?
With a combined user base of over a billion monthly, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are part of Meta’s app family; India is their largest market.
Development of Meta AI:
September 2023 saw the introduction of Meta AI as part of Meta’s major generative AI drive. The corporation has positioned itself as a major player in the AI race alongside other technological giants like Google and Microsoft. It also hopes to incorporate these capabilities into its programs, which are used by over 3 billion people daily.
Technical information:
The open-source large language model (LLM) Llama 2, developed by the business, is leveraged by a customized AI model that powers Meta AI.
