Samsung has officially announced that its One UI 7 software update will begin rolling out on April 7, bringing a refreshed design and AI-powered enhancements to its devices. Initially, the update will be introduced on the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6, before gradually expanding to more Samsung smartphones and tablets.
With One UI 7, Samsung is revamping the user experience by introducing a cleaner and more intuitive home screen, alongside updated widgets that enhance usability. The lock screen has also been redesigned to provide greater customization, making it easier for users to personalize their devices. One of the standout additions is the Now Bar, a feature that delivers real-time updates directly on the lock screen. This means users can conveniently monitor workout progress or see what’s playing on their Galaxy Buds without needing to unlock their phone.
The software update is also packed with AI-driven capabilities aimed at simplifying everyday tasks and boosting efficiency. One of these features, known as AI Select, enables users to interact with on-screen content effortlessly. For instance, by swiping open the Edge Panel and selecting AI Select while watching a video, users can instantly save clips as GIFs. Other AI-powered tools include Writing Assist, which offers automatic text formatting and summarization, and Drawing Assist, which allows users to create digital sketches by combining text prompts with images. Additionally, the new Audio Eraser tool provides an advanced noise removal function, letting users isolate and eliminate unwanted background sounds from videos.
Google Gemini’s integration within One UI 7 has also been strengthened, making voice commands more intuitive for specific tasks. For example, users can now simply ask their device to find pet-friendly restaurants nearby. Moreover, the settings menu has been refined with natural language search capabilities, allowing users to enter phrases like “My eyes are feeling tired” to receive suggestions such as adjusting screen brightness or enabling the Eye Comfort Shield feature.
While the rollout will begin with the latest Galaxy S24 models and foldable devices, Samsung plans to extend the update to older devices in the coming weeks. Among the next in line to receive One UI 7 are the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Tab S10 series, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. The gradual release will ensure that more users gain access to the latest interface improvements and AI-enhanced functionalities designed to refine the overall Samsung experience.
