You are listening when reporter says Apple is planning a spring event on March 8th to unveil a new low-cost iPhone SE with 5G, as well as an updated iPad Air with a new CPU and 5G for cellular-equipped devices. Rumors of an iPhone SE update have been circulating since before the iPhone 13 was released, and reporter now says that we can anticipate a speedier chip and improved cameras inside a shell that's similar to the current model's 4.7-inch screen. The current iPhone SE was released in 2020, and its $399 price tag remains the same as it did on launch day, so an A15 processor and 5G connectivity might make it a far better deal. There's no news on Touch ID's fate, but it's unlikely to alter without a design overhaul. Gurman has heard that a new version of iOS with mask-friendly facial recognition technology will be released in March for iPhones and iPads that employ Face ID. New emoji and the much-anticipated Universal Control feature, which connects a single keyboard and mouse setup to work across numerous Macs and iPads, could be included in future software upgrades. A new Mac model with Apple's own CPU technology inside could potentially arrive in March, though it's not expected at the same time. "New iMac and Mac Pro desktops, a redesigned MacBook Air, an updated low-end MacBook Pro, three Apple Watches, four iPhone 14 models, and new AirPods" are all slated to arrive in 2022. Just don't expect to be able to purchase an Apple mixed reality AR / VR headset before 2023 at the earliest.
