Google has introduced a new AI-powered feature called "Vision Match" in its Shopping tab, allowing users to find clothing items by describing what they have in mind. This enhancement aims to make online shopping more intuitive by enabling users to search for apparel using their own words, while also expanding Google's augmented reality (AR) beauty and virtual try-on tools. Currently available to U.S. mobile users, Vision Match suggests clothing items that align with a user’s description and provides purchasable options that best match their preferences. To access this feature, users can type their desired clothing style into the search bar and look for the “Can’t find it? Create it” prompt. Alternatively, they can navigate to the Shopping tab’s left panel and select “Create & Shop.” Google initially tested Vision Match as an experimental feature in Labs in 2023 before rolling it out more widely. Alongside Vision Match, Google has expanded its AR beauty functionality, allowing users to experiment with multiple makeup products at once. Beginning this week, U.S. shoppers can virtually try on and purchase lipsticks, eyeshadows, mascaras, and eyeliners from popular brands like E.L.F., Glossier, Fenty Beauty, and others. By searching for terms such as “soft glam,” users can activate the feature by selecting “See the looks on you” followed by “Try it on.” This lets them visualize different makeup products-including neutral eyeshadows, rosy blush, and lip gloss-on their own faces. Google has also extended its virtual try-on feature, which originally launched in 2023, to help users see how various garments fit on real-life models. Previously limited to tops, the tool now supports pants and skirts from a wide selection of brands. Shoppers can preview clothing on models of different body sizes, ranging from XXS to XXL, providing a more accurate representation of how an item might look in real life. Since integrating generative AI into Search in 2023, Google has steadily refined its Shopping tab with AI-driven innovations. Last year, the company introduced an AI-powered summary within search results, offering essential insights on products users were considering. For example, when searching for a winter jacket, shoppers would receive key buying tips tailored to seasonal needs, enhancing their purchasing decisions. By incorporating advanced AI and AR capabilities, Google continues to reshape the online shopping experience, making it more personalized and interactive for users worldwide.
