Pixel devices are now receiving Android 15, which includes enhancements for tablets and foldables as well as additional privacy and security measures. When the operating system was first made accessible last month via the Android Open Source Project, it wasn’t yet compatible with Pixel smartphones and tablets or other well-known Android devices. Google said today that it will eventually be available on Pixels along with several Pixel feature releases.
The option to create a “private space” for apps you might wish to keep concealed from prying eyes is one of Android 15’s main new features. (Google provides examples of dating, banking, and social media applications.) Google states that apps placed in the secret area won’t appear in your recent apps, notifications, or settings. You will need to provide further verification in order to access the area, and according to Google, you can even “hide the existence of private space from view on your phone.”
Android 15 will allow users to pin and unpin the taskbar on tablets and foldable smartphones, giving them the option of slightly easier app access. Additionally, you can create an app pairing and access it from a single icon if you regularly use a few apps side by side.
Not just Android 15 but many other Android-powered devices will also come with Theft Detection Lock, which enables your phone to lock itself automatically if it determines—with the aid of artificial intelligence—that it has been taken. Additionally, Google is introducing Remote Lock, a feature that allows you to lock your phone with your phone number, another Android phone, and a “simple security check.” According to the firm, these functionalities will be available on “most” devices running Android 10 or later; some users have them now.
Additionally, Google is beginning to roll out a new Pixel feature drop for October that includes additional options for Audio Magic Eraser and Night Sight for Instagram, which helps users capture better low-light photographs. Google is also planning to release a feature that will allow you to transfer media between a Pixel phone and tablet by simply holding them side by side in “the next few weeks.”
