The “Samarth” campaign, launched today by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), aims to raise national awareness of and provide opportunities for those with disabilities. Hyundai’s global mission of ‘Progress for Humanity’ centers on fostering societal understanding and empathy towards individuals with physical disabilities.
It results from Hyundai’s recognition of the need to raise public awareness of disabilities given that there are more than 26.8 million people with disabilities living in India. Hyundai becomes the first car company in India to introduce an inclusive mobility project on a large scale thanks to the “Samarth.”
Along with aligning Hyundai dealerships and networks to become more inclusive, it will collaborate with NGOs and media networks to launch a widespread movement. Through partnerships, technology, product innovations, and story, “Samarth” seeks to create an equitable and fair playing field for all people. Speaking at the initiative’s debut, HMIL’s MD and CEO, Un Soo Kim, stated,
In order to offer complete support to individuals with disabilities, the South Korean auto company has partnered with the GoSports Foundation and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. Hyundai intends to make sure that everyone has equal access to the internet by making its website accessible to those with disabilities. Additionally, for convenience of access, all dealerships and service centers will be made accessible to those with disabilities.
Hyundai has redesigned its showrooms to enhance the general customer experience and highlight the company’s commitment to social responsibility, diversity, equality, and building strong customer relationships in addition to making a good impact on a more inclusive society. By February 2024, it wants all dealerships and workshops to be wheelchair-accessible for individuals with disabilities.
Hyundai is working to improve its accessibility for people with disabilities by creating and launching Swivel Seats and accessories with MOBIS. In order to give para-athletes in India comprehensive support, Hyundai and the GoSports Foundation are launching an exclusive initiative that will assist athletes in both team and individual sports.
In order to promote the social and physical development of the visually impaired in India, HMIF and Samarthanam will establish a program to use blind cricket as a platform for those with disabilities who require assistance with daily tasks. It would assist visually challenged cricket players by planning several national and local training camps. The National Blind Cricket Team’s International Bilateral Series will also be coordinated under the program.
