The success of the dark comedy drama Bad Sisters led Apple TV+ to its first above-the-line BAFTA wins tonight.
Anne-Marie Duff won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Grace in the drama series Bad Sisters.
In Bad Sisters, Grace’s abusive husband’s murder is cleverly planned by the Garvey sisters. Sharon Horgan wrote the show, which was adapted from a Belgian limited series format. Along with Anne-Marie Duff, Eve Hewson, Sarah, Greene, and Eva Birthistle, Horgan plays one of the sisters.
When Bad Sisters premiered on Apple TV+ in August 2022, it received widespread critical acclaim and garnered sufficient viewership to warrant a second season, which is currently in pre-production.
Bad Sisters also featured Eve Hewson and Claes Bang as the five Garvey sisters, Eva, Grace, Ursula, and Becka, who live in Dublin today. After Elegance’s harmful, controlling spouse John Paul kicks the bucket suddenly, the sisters end up at the focal point of an extra security examination.
At London’s Royal Festival Hall, the BAFTA TV Awards will run until late afternoon on Sunday, May 14. They feature the best and brightest in the UK television industry and are hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.
