‘Billions’ season 6 trailer has released, But who is replacing Damian Lewis?

Showtime has teased the arrival of its high-stakes drama “Billions” after a significant character bowed out.

Emmy award-winning actor Damian Lewis finished his five-season run in the season finale “No Direction Home” on Sunday night, with his character, hedgez fund wizard Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, passing on New York for great to get away from his legal woes.

Closely following the finale episode airing, Showtime reported that the show’s 6th season will debut on Sunday, January 23.

Lewis, 50, had played billionaire financier Axelrod on the Showtime series since its beginning in 2016.

“What an incredible joy to spend five years working so closely with the great @lewis_damian!” showrunner Brian Koppelman said on Twitter. “(Co-creator) @DavidLevien and I are beyond grateful to you, Damian, for the work, of course, and the fellowship, and for all you sacrificed to come do this with us.”

In April this year Lewis experienced an individual tragedy when his wife, British entertainer Helen McCrory, kicked the bucket of malignancy.

“There’s an opportunity maybe for me to return,” Lewis told the New York Times on Sunday. “But for now, broadly speaking, Axe has been vanquished.”

The 90-second trailer showed that while the series will take an alternate direction following Lewis’ exit, there will keep on being shifts in alliances and a lot of unscrupulous behavior.

Extremely rich person Mike Prince, played by Corey Stoll, is set to start to lead the pack in season 6, close by Daniel Breaker’s scheming character, Scooter, subsequent to being presented in season 5 as a furious adversary to Ax.

The sneak look affirms that while Prince is presently on top of the world, he isn’t liberated from the legitimate reach of New York Attorney General Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti).

Rhoades tells his dad in the start of the trailer: “This is the first battle in the new war I’m waging against the criminally rich.”
