Bruno Mars continues to break streaming records, becoming the first artist to surpass 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Mars hasn’t released a solo album since 2016’s “24K Magic,” but he has made history on the platform with a string of successful collaborative singles. His mid-tempo duet with Lady Gaga, “Die With a Smile,” has garnered nearly 1.7 billion streams on Spotify since its August 2024 release, becoming his ninth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 and his first number-one single since falling from the top spot in 2019.
In October, he continued his streak with his collaboration with Rosé, “Apt.”, which has already surpassed 1 billion streams and debuted at No. 5 on the Hot 100. The $150 million milestone coincides with the release of his R-rated song with Sexy Redd, “Fat Juicy and Wet,” on Friday. In the video, Mars brings together a string of recent collaborators, including Gaga and Rosé, to celebrate.
Mars, who is presently the number one artist on Spotify, is gearing up for the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where he and Gaga are up for song of the year and best pop duo/group performance. Meanwhile, Mars and Rosé just became the best-selling song in the United States, spending 12 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. list, making it the first K-pop song to do so.
Though Mars has delayed nearly a decade for his next solo album, he has released the collaborative album “An Evening With Silk Sonic” with Anderson. In 2021, Paak will take on the name Silk Sonic. Their single “Leave the Door Open” received four Grammy Awards, including record and song of the year.
