Coming Soon: Samsung’s Wear OS 5 Beta for Galaxy Watch

Google announced Wear OS 5 at I/O earlier this month, and as usual, the update will likely roll out to Galaxy smartwatches first. And as planned, there are signs of life in his Wear OS 5 on the Galaxy Watch, surfacing ahead of the One UI Watch 6 beta program.

Since the debut of Wear OS 3, Samsung has been at the forefront of every new update. The latest version typically makes its way to the latest Galaxy Watch, then to the Pixel Watch, and eventually to watches from other brands.

Last year, Wear OS 4 first debuted with his One UI Watch 5 beta. The program was scheduled to arrive in May 2023, but actually rolled out to the Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 in early June. This update was rolled out to all users in August after the launch of Galaxy Watch 6.

It looks like this schedule will be maintained this year as well.

Twitter/X user @theordysm posted an image of his Samsung forum page of the One UI Watch 6 beta. The page is sparse and lacking in specific details at this point, but its existence and timing suggest Samsung is following a similar pattern to last year.

When will this beta program launch?

This is still up in the air, but could happen within a week or two. In this case, the beta program will likely run for two to three months before Samsung broadly rolls out the update to existing Wear OS-based Galaxy Watch models. The update will be available soon for the Galaxy Watch 7, with the “Ultra” model leaked earlier this week.
