The new Lucasfilm Star Wars series, The Acolyte, will debut in the spring on Disney+. On June 4, Star Wars: The Acolyte will be available on the streaming platform. The date was made public on Monday on the verified X account of Star Wars.
The Acolyte, a mystery-thriller film directed by Lesley Headland (Russian Doll), transports viewers to a galaxy of dark secrets and emerging dark-side forces during the closing moments of the High Republic era. In order to look into a series of crimes, a former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master; however, the forces they face are darker than they could have anticipated.
Among the cast are Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).
Along with executive producing, Headland also shows and collaborates with Jason Micallef, Jeff F. King, Simon Emanuel, and Kathleen Kennedy. Producing are Damian Anderson and Rayne Roberts. The series pilot will also be directed by Headland.
