Google’s Climate application isn’t offered a lot of consideration, despite the fact that large numbers of us use it consistently. Earlier this year, the weather app added support for dark mode, which was a pleasant surprise for users. However, the app’s interface has largely remained unchanged since its launch. Presently, Google is giving the Climate application its first genuine makeover in quite a while with a Material You overhaul starting from the earliest stage.
The Weather app’s current design language resembles a Google Search result for a weather query in your selected location. Today’s weather, tomorrow’s forecast, and a 10-day overview are the three tabs on the interface. As a weatherperson, you get a frog and can scroll through each page to see additional information like wind direction and speed, hourly temperatures, sunrise and sunset times, and hourly chance of precipitation.
Instead of tabs, the updated user interface displays all information using neat cards. The magnifying glass icon has been replaced by a location pin icon, and the search bar at the top is now pill-shaped rather than rectangular. According to 9to5Google, the toad weatherperson’s current weather graphic takes up only a third of your screen space. The current temperature’s Google font is different and bolder, making it much easier to read.
You will find the hourly forecast for the day in a horizontally scrolling carousel below the current weather. There will also be a 10-day forecast, with each day having its own card against the background. The new connection point is by all accounts in the inside testing stage with Google representatives, so a delivery might be close to the corner. The ability to tap on one of the 10-day forecasts to see more information about a day is one feature that we hope we won’t lose with the new interface.
