HBO Max has promised a long-awaited fix for its tvOS app.
HBO Max’s streaming app is known for frequent breakdowns and glitches, and it is frequently overloaded during key launch dates, according to Apple TV users. The business described the new app as “fully redesigned with several important new features” as part of a makeover that will last through next week.
The new app will have easier sign-in and sign-up methods, as well as a “enhanced” homepage with a scrollable hero, according to the business. The app will also feature an editable “My Stuff” interface, according to the business, so users can better control their Continue Watching and My List categories. Finally, the business promises improved “binge mode” experiences, including the ability to bypass credits, according to Variety.
The new app is linked to WarnerMedia’s acquisition of You.i, a cross-platform development tool company, in 2020. The acquisition, according to WarnerMedia, is “a key piece to our growth strategy,” with Roku, Playstation, Android, Samsung, LG, Vizio, Vodafone, Comcast, and Cox already on the new tech stack.
The new Apple TV app will be released “slowly” this week and next, according to HBO Max. And it couldn’t come at a better time.
