On Tuesday, Reliance Jio introduced the JioTag Air in India, succeeding its previous Bluetooth-enabled tracker, the JioTag. A standout feature of this new device is its compatibility with Apple’s Find My network, which allows iPhone users to track misplaced or stolen items such as keys, luggage, wallets, and even pets. This launch follows closely on the heels of the company’s debut of the JioFinance app last month.
The JioTag Air can be purchased in India at a launch price of Rs. 1,499. It can be bought through JioMart, Reliance Digital, and Amazon India. The tracker is offered in three colors: blue, grey, and red. Additionally, buyers can avail of cashback offers when making transactions via CredUPI, Paytm, and select credit cards.
The JioTag Air supports tracking through two different apps. Android users can use the JioThings app, while Apple users can use the Find My network app on devices such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs, a feature absent in its predecessor. Alternatively, the JioThings app is also available on Apple’s platforms via the App Store. However, it’s important to note that only one app can be used with the JioTag Air at a time.
Compatibility-wise, the JioTag Air works with iPhone models running iOS 14 or later and Android smartphones operating on Android 9 and later versions. It is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3 and includes a built-in speaker capable of producing sounds within the 90-120 dB range. The device measures 38x38x7mm and weighs 10g, making it compact and lightweight.
The Bluetooth tracker also features support for Apple’s Lost Mode, enabling users to receive automatic notifications on a paired Apple device when a lost item is detected within the network. It comes with a battery life of 12 months, and the retail box includes an extra battery and a lanyard.
Overall, the JioTag Air offers enhanced functionality and broader compatibility compared to its predecessor, providing a reliable solution for tracking and locating personal items through advanced network integration and user-friendly features.
