Fortnite’s new chapter has begun, and with it comes a brand new map. The redesigned island in Fortnite has various new locations, weather effects, and weapons, but it’s still a big ol’ island area, so it should appear familiar.
The new island is intimately linked to the season’s battle pass, which features Spider-Man prominently. The debut of Marvel’s web-slinger has prompted him to have his own spot on the new map. The huge Daily Bugle office building is one of the most prominent Spider-Man allusions in Chapter 3. Other new areas include Sanctuary, which acts as a base for The Seven, the mysterious group behind some of the most pivotal events in the Fortnite narrative.
Spider-Man was also a major influence on one of Fortnite Chapter 3’s new mechanics: swinging. Starting on December 11, players will be able to swing from great heights using Spider-trademark Man’s web-shooters. The next season will also be the first to include Fortnite’s sliding mechanic, albeit it appears to be less Spider-Man-inspired.
With its weather effects, Fortnite’s new island has received an environmental enhancement over prior maps. Rainstorms, lightning, and even tornadoes can drag you in and throw you out on the new map. There will also be a slew of new weaponry in Chapter 3, including assault rifles, shotguns, and sniper rifles.
Of course, like with any new season, Epic has added a slew of new features. To get an idea of everything that’s new in Fortnite Chapter 3 season 1.
