Google Photos’ AI-powered “Magic Eraser” is rolling out to all Google One subscribers

“Magic Eraser,” one of the best photo editing features on the Google Pixel, is now available on other Android and iOS devices. However, it won’t be free. Google announced today that in addition to Pixel owners, Google One subscribers will also be able to use the popular tool, which employs AI to remove unwanted content from images. A new HDR video effect, exclusive collage Styles, and a few other editing tools will be available to Google One subscribers as well.

The initial purpose of the Google One subscription was to pay for additional cloud storage for Gmail, Photos, and Docs. However, over the course of time, it has grown to include a VPN as well as additional benefits reserved for members, such as the capacity to host longer group video calls on Google Meet, 10% cashback on purchases made through Google Store, extended trials, and additional premium Google Photos features, such as Portrait Light, which can be used to adjust the light position and brightness on the faces of subjects while softening the background.

With the introduction of Magic Eraser and the other new additions, the exclusive set of Google Photos perks is now expanding once more.

Magic Eraser will now be available to all Android and iOS Google One subscribers. Previously, it was only available to Pixel 6 and 7 owners. It will also be available without requiring a Google One subscription to Pixel 5a and older smartphones. Even though there are other third-party apps that can remove objects, Magic Eraser adds the ability to do so to the main Android Photos app, which many iPhone users prefer to Apple’s Photos.

A new HDR video effect that aims to balance dark foregrounds with bright backgrounds or vice versa will also be available to Google One subscribers. Google claims that this is comparable to the photo effect that was previously available.

In addition, Google Photos’ collage editor will now have the ability to apply a Style only to one photo in the collage and a selection of new Styles to choose from. Both Pixel owners and Google One subscribers will be able to use this.

Last but not least, Google One subscribers will be able to order photo prints from the online store in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union with free shipping.

While each feature on its own may not be worth paying for, the package that includes other benefits, backup and synchronization options, and additional storage has made Google One a top app store seller. Data.ai discovered that the Google One app ranked first in 2022. 6 non-game apps worldwide in terms of spending by consumers. Also, it was a no. 8 in the United States Despite the fact that the majority of customers are purchasing the subscription for the additional storage and backup, it is also another way for Google to secure customers into its app ecosystem, even if they do not use Pixel phones or Android devices. In a sense, it is Google’s alternative to Apple’s iCloud.

According to Google, the HDR effect, the new collage Styles, and the Magic Eraser will begin rolling out today but will not be available to all users worldwide for several weeks. However, the free shipping is now available.
