The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the results for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 on March 19. Candidates who took the exam from February 1 to February 16 can now view their results by logging into the official websites at gate2025.iitr.ac.in and goaps.iitr.ac.in.
This year, the GATE 2025 examination covered a total of 30 subjects. The response sheets were made available on February 27, giving candidates a chance to review their answers. From February 27 to March 1, students could submit objections regarding the answer keys. With the results now released, those who meet the cut-off criteria can download their GATE 2025 scorecards for free from March 28 to May 31. However, if candidates wish to obtain their scorecards between June 1 and December 31, a fee of Rs 500 per test paper will apply.
The GATE scorecard is highly valuable, as it remains valid for three years from the announcement date. This allows successful candidates to use their scores for pursuing higher education or job opportunities in the future.

To ensure fairness in the evaluation process, IIT Roorkee has implemented a normalization procedure for test papers that were administered in multiple sessions. This approach accounts for variations in difficulty levels across different sessions. As stated in the official information brochure, the normalization process is based on the premise that the distribution of candidates’ abilities remains stable across sessions. Given the high number of participants and the random assignment of sessions, this assumption is deemed valid, helping to guarantee that no candidate faces an unfair disadvantage.
Examining the cut-off trends from the last year, the highest cut-off for GATE 2024 was recorded in the Humanities and Social Sciences (Psychology) category, with a score of 52.7 marks for candidates in the general category. In contrast, some of the lowest cut-off scores were seen in fields such as Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mathematics, and Mining Engineering, where the qualifying score was set at 25.
