The news follows last year’s research that noted Brits currently drink less than half their recommended daily amount. This revelation coincides with World Water Day on Friday.
According to the survey, 75% of British people drink less water in the winter than they do in other seasons. This percentage is distributed equally among age groups, geographical areas, and genders.
We feel less thirsty in the winter because we spend less time outside and receive less sun exposure. This is the main reason why we drink less water during this season. Our bodies don’t detect thirst as effectively in the winter, so even while dehydration is more likely to impact us in the summer, it’s still vital to pay attention to how much water we consume during that season.
During colder months, drinking plenty of water can also have seasonal advantages, like protecting skin from the elements and strengthening our immune systems when we’re most susceptible to airborne infections.
