How to Stream the Democratic National Convention Live Online

Kamala Harris is expected to be formally nominated for president this week at the Democratic National Convention, taking place August 19-22 in Chicago, Illinois. The event will take place at the United Center, where Democratic delegates and leaders will meet to formally nominate Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for vice president.

The convention promises to be a star-studded event, with hosts Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling, Ana Navarro and Tony Goldwyn. Each host will serve as emcee on one of the convention’s four nights, opening the night with a speech and returning at regular intervals to lead the event. Meanwhile, Julia Louis-Dreyfus will moderate a panel focusing on U.S. governors on the third day of the convention.

The DNC will be broadcast live on ABC, CNN, CBS News, CSPAN, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC News, NewsNation, PBS, and other channels. However, cable TV rejects will be best served watching the event via a live TV streamer such as DirecTV, Sling TV, Fubo TV, or Hulu + Live TV, all of which are currently offering free trials.

Some coverage will also be available to stream on Peacock (NBC coverage) and Max (CNN coverage).

The main programming of the 2024 Democratic National Convention will run from approximately 6:15 pm Eastern time until 11 pm Eastern time. Typically, the morning starts with a breakfast for attendees starting at 7 am Eastern time, followed by a variety of meetings and events throughout the day before the main primetime sessions begin.

As in previous years, an impressive program of musical performances is expected at this year’s DNC. Artists confirmed so far include John Legend, Billie Eilish, and Jennifer Hudson, with more big-name artists likely to make surprise appearances and support Harris Waltz on stage throughout the week. Tickets for the official DNC will be available at www.dnc.org/.

In addition to the official coverage, this week “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “The Daily Show” will be in Chicago to cover the Democratic National Committee. On the programming: a biofilm about Kamala Harris created by the Daily Show team and a Late Show guest list that includes Hillary Clinton and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
