Last week, Georgia football defeated South Carolina 24-14 to defeat its season’s opening challenge.
It is a 42-point favourite over UAB, who is led by Trent Dilfer, a former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl champion in his first season as head coach.
The Bulldogs, the two-time defending national champions, are 3-0 and ranked No. 1 but have struggled offensively to get going in each game.
“The truth is what you’ve done is who you are, and that’s right now who we are, a 3 and 0 team that has played three imperfect games, and I’m still looking for the first perfect one,” coach Kirby Smart said.
Georgia is banged up.
Amarius Mims, the team’s main offensive tackle, will be out due to an ankle injury sustained last week, while top wide receiver Ladd McConkey will miss the team’s fourth straight game with a back injury.
Due to injuries, its running back depth remains limited. Dillon Bell, a wide receiver, also performs as a running back occasionally.
After trailing South Carolina by 11 points at the half, Georgia outscored them 21-0.
Dominic Lovett, a wide receiver, said, “The coaching staff really just told us to take it one play at a time, one drive at a time, one moment at a time.” “They said not to play to the scoreboard but to go out there, to leave it all out there for your brothers and good things would happen.”
