How to watch King Charles III’s coronation in live in the United States

It will be the nation’s first coronation in 70 years when King Charles III of Great Britain is crowned on May 6.

The coronation, which will take place at Westminster Abbey at 11 a.m. BST, or 6 a.m. ET, is expected to attract more than 2,000 guests from all over the world.

Charles and Camilla will take part in the King’s Procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey prior to the service. The king and queen will greet the crowds from Buckingham Palace’s balcony following the service.

William, Prince of Wales, Charles’s son and the next in line for the throne, will play a significant role in the coronation. William’s family will also be present, including his wife Catherine and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis. Harry, Charles’s younger son, will also be there, but Meghan, his wife, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, will not be there.

What time will the coronation be televised in the U.S.?

Before the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey, which will begin at 6 a.m. ET, the King’s Procession will begin at 5:20 a.m. Starting at 5 a.m. Eastern Time (ET), CBS Saturday Morning” co-hosts Michelle Miller, Dana Jacobson, and Jeff Glor will host live coverage from London across all CBS News platforms. They will be joined in London by a team that includes royal experts Tina Brown, Julian Payne, and Wesley Kerr, as well as CBS News foreign correspondents Holly Williams, Mark Phillips, Imtiaz Tyab, and Chris Livesay.

How much time will the coronation take?

It is expected that the coronation will last about two hours. The king and queen will then embark on a second procession back to Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach, a gilded horse-drawn carriage that is more than 200 years old. The parade will follow similar course as the one prior in the day and last around 30 minutes.

The United Kingdom and Commonwealth Armed Forces will then give Charles and Camilla a royal salute in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. Members of the royal family will make their way to Buckingham Palace’s balcony around 9:15 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) or 2:15 p.m. British Standard Time (BST) to watch a flyover of British military planes and helicopters.
