The Million Dollar Band from the University of Alabama will participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California on New Year’s Day.
On Monday, ABC and NBC will air the parade starting at 10 a.m. Central time. The procession will also be broadcast on YouTube’s Tournament of Roses channel and Fubo TV, among other streaming sites.
The football team of UA will play the Michigan Wolverines in the College Football Playoff semifinal later that day at 4 p.m. in the Rose Bowl. The game will air on ESPN.
The 135th Tournament of Roses Parade will include numerous floats, eighteen marching bands, and eighteen horse groups. The Million Dollar Band has been selected to take part in the parade. The Albertville High School Aggie Band, another Alabaman band, will march in the parade.
An additional 50 million people are anticipated to watch the Rose Parade on national television, drawing an estimated 700,000 people throughout its 5.5-mile route.
Broadway, movie, and television icon Audra McDonald will serve as grand marshal for the Rose Parade this year. The subject matter is “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language.”
On Saturday, the football squad and the 400-member Million Dollar Band were to take separate charter flights from Tuscaloosa to California.
The Tournament of Roses Parade began in 1890, and according to UA officials, this is the first time the Million Dollar Band has participated in it. The Million Dollar Band participated in the New York Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in 2021.
