“How I Met Your Father” won’t have a third season. After two seasons, Hulu has cancelled the Hilary Duff-starring followup series, according to report.
Amidst company-wide streaming content cuts at Disney, Disney+ decided not to move through with two new series and cancelled Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. after two seasons. Hulu also cancelled the popular comedy The Great after three seasons.
In the near future of Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger’s How I Met Your Father, Sophie (Kim Cattrall) recounts to her son how she met his father: a story that launches us back to the year 2021 where Sophie (Hilary Duff) and her affectionate gathering of companions – Jesse (Chris Lowell), Valentina (Francia Raisa), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), Ellen (Tien Tran) and Sid (Suraj Sharma) — are amidst sorting out what their identity is, what they deeply desire, and how to experience passionate feelings for in the period of dating applications and limitless options.
Along with Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Pam Fryman, the director/executive producer of the original series, and Adam Londy, Aptaker and Berger co-executive produced HIMYM. Producer Duff was involved. The studio was 20th Television.
Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris, who played Robin Scherbatsky and Barney Stinson respectively in the original series, made guest appearances in HIMYF, a stand-alone sequel to CBS’ How I Met Your Mother.
“How I Met Your Father” was produced by 20th Television, a parent company of Hulu and Disney.
