Kia India has officially unveiled the name of its highly anticipated compact SUV, calling it the ‘Syros.’ This announcement follows the release of teaser images that hinted at its design and features. Positioned between the Seltos midsize SUV and the Sonet compact SUV, the Syros is set to make its debut soon, bringing a fresh contender to the market.
Larger than the Sonet, the Syros promises enhanced practicality and versatility. Kia describes it as offering “industry-first connected features” to provide a cutting-edge driving experience. Teaser footage showcases a striking upright front design, complete with triple-beam vertical LED projector headlights and slender vertical LED Daytime Running Lights flanking the sides. Kia’s signature badge is prominently placed on the bonnet’s edge.
The design of the Syros highlights tall pillars and a near-flat roofline, maximizing interior space and creating a spacious greenhouse effect. Additionally, the SUV is expected to offer a roomy boot and an accommodating cabin, emphasizing functionality. Under the hood, the Syros is likely to be powered by a choice of three engines: a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol, a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol, and a 1.5-liter diesel, paired with multiple transmission options.
At the rear, the Syros will feature L-shaped LED tail lights mounted on the pillars and a boxy design for a bold and contemporary appearance. Inside, a host of modern features awaits, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
Other notable amenities include an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, connected technology, adjustable headrests, and six airbags as standard. Additional highlights include traction control, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, and an electronic parking brake.
With its blend of advanced features and practical design, the Kia Syros is expected to be competitively priced, aiming to capture a significant share of the compact SUV segment. Future powertrain expansions are also anticipated, ensuring a wide range of choices for customers.
