PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt Ltd has secured a significant land allocation at the State Industrial Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu’s (SIPCOT) industrial park near Mannapparai. Situated along the Tiruchi-Dindigul National Highway, the FMCG giant has been granted 27.96 acres, where it is expected to set up a manufacturing facility focused on producing potato crisps and various snack items. According to reports, the company has completed most of the necessary formalities related to this land acquisition.
Confirming the latest development, a senior government official emphasized that the multinational company’s entry into the Mannapparai industrial park represents a major milestone in boosting investments within SIPCOT. This move is anticipated to generate new employment opportunities, benefiting people in Tiruchi and surrounding regions of Tamil Nadu.
PepsiCo’s expansion adds to the growing list of businesses establishing operations at this industrial park. Until last year, only 13 companies had been allocated land on a long-term 99-year lease, but the number has now risen to 19, with more than 150 acres already distributed among various enterprises. The first company to commence production at the park was a scaffolding manufacturing firm. Meanwhile, most of the businesses that have acquired land have already started construction, with some nearing completion of their facilities.
The foundation for this industrial hub was laid in 2013 when the Tamil Nadu government sanctioned the development of the park in the Tiruchi district. The goal was to offer industrial land on an affordable, long-term lease basis to attract investors. A total of 1,096.36 acres were acquired across three villages-Kannudaiyanpatti, K. Periyapatti, and Chathirapatti-near Mannapparai. To support industrial growth, infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and potable water was developed, and designated zones were established for different industries.
The land allocation process officially commenced in 2019, and out of the total land acquired, 396 acres have already been developed. Currently, SIPCOT has about 700 acres still available for industrial enterprises, with 131.92 acres specifically set aside for the Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO). Additionally, around 500 acres remain open for lease to companies looking for industrial plots.
With PepsiCo’s entry, Mannapparai’s industrial park is expected to gain further traction as a key destination for industrial investments, fostering regional economic development and employment generation.
