A report asserts that Apple’s watchOS 10 will be unveiled at the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) this summer and will include a user interface refresh.
Typically, Apple announces significant operating system updates during WWDC, which begins on June 5. Apple will demonstrate upcoming changes to watchOS as part of this, revealing features that Apple Watch users can anticipate seeing in the fall public release.
Mark Gurman discusses watchOS 10, the next version of the Apple Watch operating system, in Sunday’s Bloomberg “Power On” newsletter. Gurman believes that watchOS will be significantly different in 2023 than it was in previous years, with only a few significant design changes.
In contrast to iOS 17, Gurman claims that the subsequent version “should be a fairly extensive upgrade – with notable changes to the user interface.”
Moreover, Gurman offers that it is “significant” for watchOS to have a major year for rendition 10, “given that the Apple Watch hardware updates will be anything but major.”
A micro-LED display and a larger, 2.1-inch Apple Watch Ultra screen are among the changes mentioned in rumors about the Apple Watch hardware updates so far. The Apple Watch 2023 rumor mill has been relatively quiet, suggesting that this year’s hardware updates may be minor.
While still in the domain of gossip, Gurman’s remarks really do have a trace of validity, in that it’s not difficult to imagine for Apple to acquaint revolutionary changes with watchOS this year. Apple has every reason to make significant changes now that it is version 10.
