We revealed plans to integrate Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 with our generative AI copilot, Joule, today at SAP Sapphire.
Because of the deep bi-directional connectivity, employees will be able to work more efficiently because they will have easy access to information from interactions with both Microsoft 365 and SAP business apps.
The question, “How many copilots do I need for my business?” is one that I am frequently asked.
The question is not how many to use, but rather which to use when.
Users can employ both generative AI copilots for business at the same time to complete tasks by merging them. No matter which copilot a user chooses, they will be able to take advantage of a single experience thanks to future plans for bi-directional integration.

Later this year, SAP and Microsoft will begin integrating their Joule and Copilot for Microsoft 365. This will combine contextual knowledge from Microsoft 365-which includes Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and more-with enterprise data from SAP to provide richer insights for improved decision-making.
SAP and Microsoft are generating whole new methods to increase productivity with this combination.
For example, a user can use SAP Concur and Joule to book a flight, and Joule can block the user’s calendar in Microsoft Outlook by integrating Copilot for Microsoft 365 with Joule.
On the other hand, picture a product manager leading a cross-functional team on the launch of a new product; they coordinate using Microsoft 365 and hold frequent meetings on Microsoft Teams. Joule has access to the team’s distinctive skill profiles, which are archived in SAP SuccessFactors, as well as critical company information, which is kept in SAP S/4HANA Cloud. With just a few inquiries and the new integration, product managers may work with the team to coordinate business activities.
